Handwritten narrative of the Fergusson Family, 1775-1862 / Rev. Adam Fergusson. 1775- 1862.

The Hon. Adam Fergusson, of Woodhill, Perthshire, and James Webster founded Fergus, Ont. in 1833. They encouraged Scottish settlers with the promise of fertile soil and plentiful water supply. Adam Fergusson was a leader in agricultural development, started the first herd of pedigree Shorthorns in Upper Canada and was one of the founders of the first agricultural societies in Ontario.
